The Difference Between a Delivery Skipper and a Captain
A yacht captain and a professional delivery skipper perform very different roles. While a captain manages a single vessel over time, a delivery skipper must safely navigate unfamiliar yachts, changing conditions, and complex offshore challenges on every voyage. The International Association of Delivery Skippers (IADS) exists to recognise the experience, judgement, and professionalism that define this specialist profession.
